È stato un architetto abilitato, ma ha trascorso gli ultimi diciassette anni a creare fumetti. È noto nelle Filippine per aver creato titoli come «Wasted», «Humanis Rex!», «Timawa», Johnny Balbona e ora Elmer. Negli Stati Uniti, ha inchiostrato numerosi titoli di Marvel, DC e Image, tra cui X-Men, X-Force, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Wetworks, Superman: Birthright, Batman/Danger Girl, Silent Dragon, High Roads, Stone e Ultimate Comics Avengers. A Gerry piacevano molto l’adobo di pollo, Psych, Mr. Belvedere, Titanic, Doctor Who, i cani, i video blogging e in particolare il font Century Gothic.
